12 Days of Happy Tails: Meet Izu!
To top off our first week of 12 Days of Happy Tails, adopter Michelle tells us about Izu, formerly known as Minnie, who came to us from the Animal Care Centers of NYC as a shy pup looking for love. 💙
"We don't know much about Izu's life as a puppy, only that she was found as a skinny stray in the Bronx. I had previously fostered a number of dogs from several NYC rescues, but it finally felt like it was a good time to adopt a second dog, seeing as we would be working from home for the foreseeable future and could get the dog acclimated to our life. After several unanswered attempts and applications at other rescues, we got a response from Muddy Paws about Minnie! When we picked her up from her foster (@thepawssociates), it was truly love at first sight.
It might sound silly, but we named her Izu after our favorite music festival, Electric Zoo (E-Zoo for short)! My husband and I have attended the vibrant festival for ten years. We have always thought of it as a place of good energy, love, and happiness—and this is what Izu brings into our lives each day.
Izu is a bit of a derp, makes hilarious facial expressions, sounds like a piggie, snores when she sleeps, and her farts can clear the room! She's extremely playful and loves to interrupt our workouts in the living room. She can be high energy, but we're working on relaxation methods that we learned in training, and they have worked wonders. Izu is quite smart; she even knows how to open our back door to do her business! She loves to annoy her older, smaller dox-bull brother Calvin, yet they make the best playmates.
Izu is wonderful around kids and most people. She loves to be near them, touch and cuddle them, and even sit on them (she thinks she's a lap dog)! She has a very special relationship with her dog dad—she can't get enough of him.
Though Izu is still a 1-year old puppy and can be crazy at times, she's brought a lot of joy into our lives. A pandemic adoptee, she helped us through these extremely difficult times. We've put a lot of work into helping her become the best dog she can be! The love and trust she has in us is so fulfilling, and we're honored to be her paw-rents. Thanks to Muddy Paws for letting this girl become part of our family!"
