12 Days of Happy Tails: Meet Elvis!
Handsome boy Elvis is the star of today’s 12 Days of Happy Tails! Elvis joined our pack at the beginning of 2020 from the Animal Care Centers of NYC. This 75-pound bundle of love needed a little TLC when we met him. Struggling with separation anxiety, Elvis was a bit like the famous human Elvis in that way — he needed to be the center of attention!
All Eyes on Elvis
As NYC went into lockdown, we had a lot of time to get to know Elvis - over 100 days in foster care!
Thankfully, our pack of amazing foster parents - Isabel, Ashley, Brendan & Rachel - were more than happy to spend time with this special guy and work with him to ensure he knew he was loved and cared for.
With each day, Elvis became more and more confident, and we became more eager to help this lovable meatball find his forever family. Elvis was featured on several bus shelters throughout the city, and we teamed up with Foster Dogs and Dan Schachner, who were happy to feature Elvis on Friday Night Foster Club. We knew it would only be a matter of time before Elvis would find the perfect family for him. Cue Jess and Rob — who decided that now was time to add a furry friend to their family.
Jess and Rob were looking for a larger adult dog, as their previous pup was a 75 lb. English Bulldog. Jess says, “We immediately fell in love with Elvis’s adorable face and taste for cute jammies.” After many calls and video chats with our staff and volunteers, they felt Elvis would be a good fit for their home and background.
Jess says, “It’s been a joy ever since! Elvis loves relaxing on the couch, getting new jammies, and people and dog-watching at Prospect Park. We’ve even traveled upstate with him, where he got to see deer, groundhogs, and vast open farmland.
Elvis always gets tons of compliments on his walks and has even been recognized by the Muddy Paws Pack! He’s a wonderful boy, and we’re so lucky to have him.”
