12 Days of Happy Tails: Meet Spud

How could we not re-tell the glorious adoption story of our extra-large potato for 12 Days of Happy Tails!? 🥔

Spud came to us from Kentucky back in September 2019, and his journey to find his forever home would be longer than most Muddy Paws Pack members.

When we first met him, he was an excited, adorable, lovable one-year-old pup, but we found that he wasn't so sure about relocating to NYC. He loved to play, but was not a fan of walking on a leash, didn't like to be left alone, and did not understand what housetraining was. After a few months and a few dedicated fosters, Spud mastered house and crate training, but he was still wary of the big city.

Our pack knew that with enough love, care, hard work, and a dedicated trainer, Spud would become a more confident pup, the perfect sweet potato we all knew he could be.

After almost 280 days in foster care, Spud's wishes to find a forever family finally happened. Olivia and Mark took one look at him and decided they wanted to be his parents, and after a foster-to-adopt trial, they became a happy family!

Since being adopted, Spud now enjoys going for hikes, playing in the dog park (with proper manners, of course!) at least once a day, plushie toys, and romping around in the water.

His family says, "He makes his own splashes in the water and tries to bite the droplets that fly into the air. He is a very happy dog, and he has really settled in."

Huge shoutout to Spud's fosters: Katie, Rachel, and long term foster Sophat (along with the fosters who helped out on weekends and overnight stays) who all contributed to helping our sweet Spud in his journey to finding his forever family.

It took a long time, but just as we believe with each dog who comes into our care, there's a perfect home that's just right for every pup!
