Top 10 Happy Tails of 2022: Meet Bluu!

As 2022 comes to a close, we're taking a look back at all of the lives that we’ve saved thanks to your support. Today begins our Top 10 Happy Tails of 2022 — each story is remarkable in their own way and are examples of the heart of our Muddy Paws Pack community. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we’ve loved all of these special pups.

Today’s Happy Tail is Bluu!

Bluu was found on the side of the road, with only a bag of food by her side, by our shelter partner in Kentucky. We don’t know what circumstances led to Bluu ending up there, but we’re so happy that she forgot all about her past when she made it to us at the end of April.

Once she arrived in NY, Bluu was paired with first time foster, David, who was smitten with her and her gentle soul instantly. David says that Bluu made herself right at home from the very start – quickly learning how to navigate stairs, taking long naps and snore the afternoon away. “Bluu was the sweetest, gentlest most loving dog. Her huge human eyes speak to you and from the moment we met she was a dream!”

Bluu’s story caught the eyes of many admirers after we posted a video about her - including actor Justin Theroux whose own pup Kuma could be Bluu’s twin! In fact - Bluu resonated so strongly with Justin that he came to our adoption event with Kuma, in the pouring rain, just to meet her. It was clear to everyone that Bluu was something special!

But it was Nafitha, her son, and their MPR alum Oreo who were destined to be Bluu’s new family. After looking for a companion dog/sibling for Oreo, Nafitha saw Bluu on our Muddy Paws site and knew she’d be a great fit. She came to our adoption event in Central Park, and the rest is history.

Nafitha says, “Bluu is a silly little girl but super sweet and protective. My son and her are practically attached at the hip. They always play and fight like siblings. Bluu keeps Oreo on his toes and doesn’t give him rest sometimes! She’s very playful. She has a fascination with birds and tries to run after or fly with them until she jumps and realizes she doesn’t have wings.”
