Our 9th Day of Happy Tails features a very sweet mama pup who joined us with her puppies in tow.

Honey, formerly known as Mama Kelsey, and her seven 6-week old puppies came to New York from our partner shelter in Kentucky. Honey was a devoted, playful and sweet mama, and she watched her puppies find their homes one by one before it was time for her to find a forever family.

Sabrina and Alan had always been passionate about rescuing, and once they officially moved in together, a dog was their next step. They started the process right away— going so far as to write "get a dog" on their calendar! Their search took them to social media, where they noticed our sweet mama on our Instagram page. From the very first glance at Honey, Sabrina said there was "something that she was just drawn to."

At this point, Honey had met with several potential adopters but, unfortunately, they all fell through. She continued to patiently in her foster home for a few more weeks.

Meanwhile, Sabrina and Alan submitted their adoption application and waited for the day that they would be approved and were finally able to meet Honey in person.

“It’s hard to find the words that can explain how everything changed when we met her that day.”

The newly formed family bonded almost instantly. Sabrina and Alan say that Honey fills their lives with more love and affection than they ever thought possible. The majority of their daily decisions are made with Honey in mind. She's spoiled with love, toys, and treats. Ice cream is her favorite. Honey makes them laugh every day  — she's quite a little drama queen, letting out an exaggerated sigh whenever she wants attention.

And, of course, Sabrina and Alan are happy to oblige.

Honey came to New York with one family but has since found a new one, where she is the center of attention living every day to the fullest.

Our Muddy Paws Pack is so proud to have saved Mama Honey and her seven pups and helped each of them find a well-deserved loving home.

This holiday season, you can make a difference in the lives of pups like Honey.
