Important Update about Adoptions with Muddy Paws
Update as of 6/5/2020: Since the New York PAUSE mandate was put into place, our Muddy Paws Pack has welcomed 185 dogs from our shelter and transport partners. Our team has also found more opportunities to help out our local pups with our partners at ASPCA and the Animal Care Centers of NYC.
Normally it's tough to place large-breed dogs or pups who need special medical care into foster homes, but as we've received more foster interest now than ever, we're seeing many new fosters welcoming our harder-to-place pups with open arms, allowing our pack to save more local lives!
We’re currently experiencing a high demand in adoptions and it is taking up to 3-4 weeks, from the time an application is submitted, for adoption applications to be approved. If you have any questions about your application status, please email adoptions@muddypawsrescue.org.
Update as of 4/14/2020: Muddy Paws Rescue began trialing virtual adoption meetings at the end of March and, after much success, we're now moving towards virtual meetings for all of our available dogs! If you're an approved adopter and see an available pup that you're interested in, like before, please let our Adoptions Team know at adoptionmeetings@muddypawsrescue.org! Instead of setting up an in-person meeting, we will be scheduling a virtual meeting with you to "meet the pup" and let you know the next steps.
Our transport schedule has been severely impacted by the Coronavirus, however, our team is in constant communication with our partner shelters (locally and in other states) to continue to welcome new dogs into our pack. The best place to keep up-to-date for available dogs is our website, where we are updating our list of available dogs in real-time. Please check back regularly for updates!
We truly appreciate everyone's understanding and patience as we temporarily settle into new processes. Our pack is continuing our lifesaving mission to the best of our ability and your support is incredibly important during this crucial time! ❤️
Update as of 03/31/2020: At the moment, we have begun trialing “virtual adoption meetings” for select dogs.
If you are a pre-approved adopter reaching out to express interest about a particular dog, we will still respond to your email and will be creating a waitlist for each dog.
If you are currently on the waitlist for one of our dogs, we may reach out to you about a virtual adoption meeting. We will also be sure to let you know if the dog you’re on a waitlist for gets adopted.
In light of the newly announced PAUSE mandate in NY State, starting Sunday (March 22), Muddy Paws Rescue will be placing adoption meetings on hold for the foreseeable future. Adoption meetings that have already been set up for Saturday (March 21) will proceed as planned.
For pre-approved adopters who have reached out directly to express interest about a particular dog, our team will still respond to your email. We ask for your patience as we work as quickly as possible to reply to everyone.
We’re still assessing our ability to welcome new transports in the future as more information becomes available from the Center for Disease Control.
Please know that our decision was not made lightly, and our team is devastated that we have to pause part of our lifesaving mission of placing dogs in loving forever homes. The health and safety of everyone in our Muddy Paws Pack are always of utmost importance to us, and even more so now as we make sure we balance the lifesaving that we can do safely at present with our ability to remain capable of saving lives for years to come.
All the dogs that remain in our foster care are safe and sound and will continue to be cared for by our amazing fosters until it is deemed safe by authorities for us to resume regular operations.
We'll provide more information as it becomes available. Things continue to change minute-by-minute, and we have been constantly reassessing as new information is released.
Thank you again for all being so supportive and understanding during this strange and challenging time.
