Brewster Can Get Better With Your Help!
Meet our 3 year old buddy, Brewster. He’s in need of your help.
A few weeks ago, Brewster arrived in our care, and within days of his arrival, his foster noticed that he was limping in pain and experiencing swelling on one of his legs.
We often know very little about the backstory of our dogs. We rely on our partner to complete a health check before our dogs make their way to the big city. We learned from our Alabama shelter partner that Brewster was likely hit by a car, and his leg sustained a terrible injury that never healed properly.
Unfortunately, Brewster has significant swelling and is not healing appropriately. He may require an implant or possibly amputation. His exercise is currently restricted and he is on medication.
After consulting with Brewster’s vets, he is undergoing surgery on March 9th 2021. During surgery, his medical team will remove a bony protrusion, check for infection, and add a plate and screws so the area can heal properly.

After Brewster’s surgery, he will need 6-8 weeks of strict rest, restricted walks, and will likely need medication management to stay calm. Although he will likely feel much better 2-3 weeks after surgery, he will require X-rays and additional monitoring.
