Meet Our Strong & Lovely Leela!
We'd like to introduce you to Leela, a sweet girl rescued from the Animal Care Centers of NYC in August.
Shortly after joining our pack, Leela was scheduled for a routine spay with our partner vet hospital, Firefly Vet. However, during surgery, the veterinarian noticed abnormal fluid in her abdomen and that Leela was having trouble while under anesthesia. The vet discontinued surgery to prevent any complications and referred her to Animal Medical Center for further diagnostic testing..
While there, Leela underwent extensive testing to determine the cause of the fluid in her abdomen. Unfortunately, the results were inconclusive, and she required surgery to get a better look at her internal organs. The surgery took a toll on Leela, leading to internal bleeding and an additional surgery thereafter.
Today, our lovely and strong Leela is in stable condition and enjoying her foster life with her foster dad, Cesar. Unfortunately, even after extensive testing, the cause of Leela's condition remains a mystery. While Leela's long-term prognosis is not yet clear, we remain hopeful that Leela can still live her best life in her forever home.
In times like these, Muddy Paws Rescue is dedicated to providing the best care for every dog on their journey to their forever home. Unfortunately, for pups like Leela, we must also navigate vet visits and costly procedures before they can have their chance at finding a forever home. Even with a generous rescue discount, the total cost of medical care for Leela has already surpassed $7,000.
