12 Days of Happy Tails: Meet Ruthie & her puppies!
For our final 12 Days of Happy Tails, we're celebrating quite possibly our biggest happy tails of the year, featuring the beautiful Ruthie (formerly Mama Viola), who arrived from Kentucky in late June, and her eight puppies, born in our care.
Ruthie's foster, Mike (a self-proclaimed "enabler of chaos and nerdy dog trainer/behavioral consultant"), was more than happy to welcome a pregnant mama.
He says, "It was THE experience of a lifetime."
Since finding their forever homes a few months ago, we check in with Mama Ruthie and each of her pups to see where they are now!
Bottom, now Boots, was adopted by foster Mike, who says, "Knowing him since before he was born is such a wild experience. He's expanded my capability to empathize, grant patience, and to be present and grounded."
Juliet, now Layla, aka "the puppy tornado" has boundless energy.
Her favorite treats are peanut butter and bananas, and she loves to run up and down the stairs to spread joy and love wherever she roams.
Hermia, now Sargi, was named after her adoptive dad's brother.
Sargi loves giving kisses to her mom and dad and her three dog siblings.
Her mom says, "She keeps us on our toes. She's athletic, energetic, and loves food."
Flute, now Honey, loves her human siblings Isabella and Mason.
Her mom says she is an ABSOLUTE dream and is the funniest, boisterous, cutest dog to ever have!
Rosalind, now Ellie, was adopted by her parents after one look at her soulful eyes.
"She's a total snug bug, greets us with kisses every morning, interrupts our zoom calls with her squeaky toys, and always has us laughing with her silly antics."
Beatrice, now Harley, made herself right at home from day one.
“She's spunky, adventurous, and full of so much love", says adoptive mom Jane.
Puck, "a mischievous fairy in A Midsummer Night's Dream, earns his name every day," says adoptive mom, Chris.
Adopted a year after losing their beloved Bosco, Chris says Bosco's spirit has come back to them via Puck.
Iago, now Shaft, is a nosy detective, says adoptive mom Romaine. He loves to play tug of war and hops around the house like a bunny.
When he's not playing, he loves hugs, kisses, and long belly rubs without interruption.
And lovely mom Ruthie, who helped make so many families happy, now lives in Brooklyn with adoptive mom Amanda.
"I adopted her the week after Ruth Bader Ginsberg died and named this brave girl Ruthie." Ruthie loves to play fetch, run around with other dogs, eat peanut butter, and goes on long hikes and runs.
Ruthie celebrates her 2nd birthday on December 26.
